This week, my client shared his experience:

“We held a meeting.
Then, I approached a colleague to discuss if we needed that meeting.
We met and decided to keep the meeting, but we needed to discuss how to lead it more effectively. We need a meeting about that.” šŸ˜‚

The bizarre nature of this situation made us both laugh. But it also highlighted that the culture of inefficiency is shockingly common. The explosion of meetings during COVID wasn’t sustainable.

Why do we still keep falling into this trap?

Let’s aim for fewer, more effective meetings. Your and my time is valuable.
Here are three BASIC tips I remind myself daily to avoid inefficient meetings :

1. Set Clear Objectives: Every meeting should have a clear purpose. If you can’t define it, reconsider the meeting. šŸŽÆ

2. Limit Attendees: Only include those who are essential. More people often mean more distractions and less productivity.

3. Stick to a Schedule: Start on time, end on time. Respect everyone’s time by keeping the meeting focused and concise. ā°

Yes, it is basic; however if you apply this three tips religiously, I bet you’ll have more time at your hands.

Efficiency isn’t just a buzzword; it’s a necessity. Let’s make our meetings meaningful.
